The pages in this book take a long time to complete (about a week each for me), and you have to have really good light to read the pale grey numbers... but it's worth the effort. The paper is thick enough that you can use any kind of medium to colour on it, just watch out for smudges if you use markers like I did on my first page (I had trouble reading some of the numbers because they'd gotten too many smudges over the top of them...) I've attached two pictures, one coloured in Tombow brush markers, and the second in Crayola twistable pencils. There's a cheat sheet in the back of the book if you really want to know what you're colouring, but I prefer to puzzle it out as I go along...
I can't find any others like it!!!! I am in love with this book! Great pictures, great colors that aren't hard to match like in some other books I've gotten Great paper quality, etc. I'm not even halfway through this book but would buy every other one like it if there were more!!
There are so many things to love about this coloring book! I really like that the image reveals as you color it. Without turning to the back and seeing the finished images, it's virtually impossible to tell what you're coloring when you pick a blank page. This first book has a nice variety of images, from animals to people to buildings and bugs. I also love that this book is time consuming but not difficult. The pixelated images look incredible when they're completed. The pages are thick enough that I don't have to worry about bleed-through when using washable markers, and the pages are all single sided and perforated. Because the coloring areas are so small, the marker strokes from water-based markers are less visible than most coloring books, leaving the finished images looking a lot nicer than many other books. I've used water-based markers, fine-liner pens, gel pens, and Prismacolor colored pencils and they all look great in this book.My only complaint is that I wish there were a larger variety of geometric shapes to color. Most of the images are made up of of triangles, with a couple pentagon, square, and hexagon images. There is only one image made from circles, and I'd have liked to see more of those as well.
This is hands down the best adult color by number book I have ever seen (not that I was looking before picking this one up). I bought it the first time in the zoo gift shop as a gift for my wife, but it didn't take long before we were both coloring pages. The ability to tear out pages cleanly on the perforations allows us to work at the same time on different pages. I have since bought a book for my sister and one for my mom. It may have been 25 years since I last sat down to color something, and I had forgotten how relaxing it is.I love how you have no idea (other than the pharoah page) what you are coloring until it starts to reveal itself as you are coloring. The pages are thick enough to allow for coloring without concern of ripping or punching through. The pictures are beautiful, and some of the pages with the smaller shapes, while they take more time, produced some really stunning end products. As a warning, a number of the pages will call for a number of shades of the same color and your standard colored pencil set simply isn't going to cut it. For example, the very first page asks for 5 different shades of blue and 5 different shades of gray. We bought the 50 color crayola pencil set, and we still struggle to get just the right colors some times. However, that is a minor quibble.As other people have suggested here, my biggest complaint is that I am almost done with it, and there doesn't seem to be another good book like it on the market.
If you enjoy coloring you will love this book. First off, it's huge...almost too huge :) but the numbers completely take the stress out of coloring since you don't have to worry about picking a color. You don't know what picture you are coloring unless you look in the back of the book, it shows all the pages fully colored. The only thing I didn't like was how many different colors you need to complete the pages. I have a pretty extensive collection of markers and I found it difficult finding enough shades to complete a page. The numbers are pretty faint so if you have trouble seeing up close you may not enjoy this book.
It's been several decades - I won't tell you how many☺- since I've done color by numbers so I wasn't sure about this. Wow was I surprised how much fun I had, and some are very challenging.Good paper quality - but always use a blotter just in case :-) Also important to note the dimensions of this book. It's pretty big! Which can be great if you're a coloring addict like me, but if you have limited space to "work" in, then I would suggest verifying the dimensions.Overall this is an awesome book and a great twist to the classic coloring I've been doing for so long now. I recommend giving it a try and see!
This book has become one of my favorite relaxation activities. I get stressed having to pick out my own color schemes when I color, so I thought color by number would be better for me. The book is high-quality, with pages that are large, thick, and one-sided. I use markers, and find that there's little to no bleed through and any that does bleed through doesn't get onto the next design. The patterns are all different and complex, which keeps me occupied for a long time. The only downside I could see would be for people with visual or fine motor difficulty, as the numbers and areas to color are often tiny.
