About the Author B. Guenin is Professor in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization at the University of Waterloo. He received a Fulkerson Prize awarded jointly by the Mathematical Programming Society and the American Mathematical Society in 2003. He is also the recipient of a Premier's Research Award in 2001 from the Government of Ontario, Canada. Guenin currently serves on the editorial board of the SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics.J. Könemann is Professor in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization at the University of Waterloo. He received an IBM Corporation Faculty Award in 2005, and an Early Researcher Award from the Government of Ontario, Canada, in 2007. He served on the program committees of several major conferences in mathematical optimization and computer science, and is a member of the editorial board of Elsevier's Surveys in Operations Research and Management Science.L. Tunçel is Professor in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization at the University of Waterloo. In 1999 he received a Premier's Research Excellence Award from the Government of Ontario, Canada. More recently, he received a Faculty of Mathematics Award for Distinction in Teaching from the University of Waterloo in 2012. Tunçel currently serves on the editorial board of the SIAM Journal on Optimization and as an Associate Editor of Mathematics of Operations Research.

I bought this one because the subject and the blurb "Gone Girl meets The Miniaturist" intrigued me.Two years ago i watched "Gone girl" and it is still one of my favorite movies.I've also read "The Miniaturist". It was the first book i managed to complete since giving birth last year, and it was a good one.Also, this is not my first book by E C Fremantle. I've aslo read her book "Queen's Gambit" about Katherine Parr’s marriage to Henry VIII.So i figured "The Poison Bed" Couldn't fail. In fact, it exeeded my expectations.I will not explain the structure of the novel, because it will give a spoiler.I will only say that the story is told from two points of view: That of Robert Carr, the king's favorite and that of Frances Howard, a member of the powerfull Howard family.This book made me work. Meaning, Wikipedia became a constant companion in trying to understand who's who.The court factions involved in the plot have grudges one with the other going back centuries, and an "active" reading is required.I knew about the Overbury poisoning from "The Murder in the Tower: The Story of Frances, Countess of Essex (A Novel of the Stuarts Book 3)" by Jean Plaidy. That is a good book to understand the complexities of the case, and get a firm grasp of the basic events. That one was written long ago, and is a part of her Stuart novels. Plaidy has written about any English Monarch since William the conqueror, but her books never read like thrillers. The poison Bed does. It really reminded me of Gone Girl in that regard.

This story is chilling. And it hasn’t lost its element of horror for being centuries old and true. Author EC Fremantle has woven a tale of intrigue, deception, and betrayal, told through the minds of the two leads. Frances Howard is presented to us as (a) manipulative and sociopathic; (b) the puppet of her unscrupulous and ambitious uncle (but weren’t all Howard’s of this ilk); or (c) a silly girl woman who dabbled in palm reading (a dangerous pastime in those days). Robert Carr - a mixture of ambition, insecurity, and naïveté - waffles as he punches above his weight. I like to think the other Robert must have thanked his lucky stars that he got off lightly with an annulment and loss of face. The unravelling of the mystery begins from Her perspective, her thoughts. At the start, then, his viewpoint is already secondary. But then, things are not quite what they seem. Or, are they? Decent read but you will need to read for beginners but you will need other books to become a good trader

This is my first book on Forex trading, so I have nothing to compare it to. So this review is for the book contents and what I like or hated about it.The book covers the basics as implied by its tittle. Don't expect in-depth analysis or fancy detailed trading strategies. The book is properly paced and not boring -at least if you're interested on learning.The language is clear enough for beginners, but the author makes a big mistake that is consistent throughout the book: tries to explain topics using jargon that is at best latter on explained on the book. So you have to go to the internet and figure out the words or concept we fails to explain earlier as it should be. I must say that while this is a big pitfall as a writer, it's good for you as reader as it forces you to spend several hours (given you have the time) on the internet reading the overwhelming amount of information found there, which helps you to diversify what you are reading on the book.I gave it 3 stars mostly for the lack of figures/graphics that would help to understand the concepts he tries to come across. The quantity of figures is extremely short and makes your imagination soar figuring out how things look like. The author failed to understand than since most interesting concepts about forex trading are closely related with the charts, these are of paramount importance to explain clearly and succinctly. It's a shame the book is so short of graphics coz otherwise would be a great book.At last, it's unbelievable that the author, the editor and however proofread the book (if somebody ever did that) failed to notice the basic arithmetics errors on the examples used to explain EVP.The bottom line: the book is worth it if you're a beginner and feel overwhelm by the information found on the internet.

Good read for an absolute beginner in foreign exchange trading. Peters covers the basics, but strategy isn't really covered in this book very thoroughly.
